We had our first live meeting since….

A few members made it to our first meeting back in Lennoxtown Library on 15th November.

The meeting started with Catriona Cameron from Carers Link telling us about a Shared Reading project with St Ninians High School. We’ll be getting involved with that in the future.

After that, inspired by this soft toy photo, we did the exercise of telling a story about him, each of us taking it in turn to tell the next bit. As far as we recall:

Joe the Koala flew to Scotland, met a haggis in the Highlands, got a kilt, went to Edinburgh Zoo where he played football for the zoo team, went to a pub after the game where he learned to play the bagpipes and joined a ceilidh band.
Then he was invited to the USA by Bill Gates, but he couldn’t get there due to travel restrictions. So Elon Musk sent him to a space station, and from there he went on the represent the Earth at an interplanetary conference. To his surprise, Donald Trump appeared too, and the two were returning to the USA when Trump was sadly lost overboard due to a faulty airlock.
On reaching the USA, Bill Gates encouraged Joe to write a book. He did so and it turned out to be a huge worldwide bestseller. Joe earned enough to buy Tasmania, and he sailed there. When he arrived there he was met by a spaceship which had come for signed copies of the book to ship across the Galaxy. Joe ended up with his own spaceship so he could travel wherever and whenever he wanted.

We’ll be holding similar exercises at future meetings. They’re always fun. Meanwhile, plans are afoot to hold our next face-to-face meeting in the library as a pre-Christmas event on 20th December.
