We have two meetings scheduled for June 2023 – one on Zoom at 2pm on Monday 5th and the second in Lennoxtown Library at 2pm on Monday 19th.
New rule – if you want a coffee at the Library, bring your own mug.
Mairi Macintosh has set a project for the first meeting. Write a story titled “the Blue Boy”, inspired by this picture. Content and characters will be your own, but your story must end with the following paragraph :
The tiredness was overwhelming. Jamie felt his fingers clumsy and raw as he pulled the sodden boots from his frozen feet. He crashed onto the bunk, pulling the duvet over his dirty clothes and curled his body in tight to warm himself up. Sleep was not instant -he was overtired and still in shock. Although still young, he already had the sense that some days were more important than others, that some days would be relived again and again in the mind, whether wanted or not. Some days would be landmarks in a person’s life. He fell asleep before he could decide if today was one such day.

As always, if anyone new to the group would like to join a meeting, then send us a message using the contact details page. We’ll provide the log-in link or invite you along to the Library.
In other news, the new committee has been formed following our Annual General Meeting at our last get together.
The committee are:
Secretary – Norrina Meechan
Treasurer – Duncan Gray
Chairperson – Debra Murphy
Author and SAW Rep – Claire Miller

More news – the winning entry in our short story competition on the theme Spring Tales (or Tails) was judged to be
Letters to the Editor by Reston Bethankful, a tale of island journalism.
Mr Reston Bethankful turned out to be a pen name used by Graham Sherry. Well done Graham and thanks to Marie Milne of Lennoxtown Library for judging.
